Is There A Healthy Starbucks Drink?

The short answer… yes it’s called a glass of water. The long answer to whether there is a healthy Starbucks drink is complicated. So let’s dive into it.

If you’re anything like me, you love a mid-afternoon sweet treat but hate the idea of drinking something that is full of sugar and an overload of artificial flavors and unhealthy ingredients.

For years I felt guilty about going to Starbucks and ordering a 350-calorie, 64gms of sugar, Ice Venti Chai Soy Latte. Truthfully, I knew it was bad for me, and yet I went back every day. I picked the Chai because I’m not a coffee drinker and there were few alternative options back in the day.

I wish I never started. The purposefully included overload of sugar and specific ingredients are used to hook us and keep us coming back. It was a nearly 20-year battle to quick my Starbucks addiction. I quit probably 100 times. It wasn’t until I just fully walked away and treated it like a “don’t send an alcoholic to a bar” kind of situation. I DO NOT go to Starbucks anymore.

But I know many of you still go and want to know if there are some healthier options, so I want to provide you with a list.

Unsweet Iced Passion Tango Tea

This can be a bit bitter if you order it unsweetened, but it’s highly refreshing. According to Starbucks, it’s a ” blend of hibiscus, lemongrass, and apple.”

Strawberry Green Tea Infusion

According to Starbucks, it has “juicy strawberry notes in a fruit and botanical blend with Green Tea and lightly sweetened with cane sugar.” You can ask for it unsweetened which I’d recommend.

Iced Coffee w/ 1 Pumps Syrup No Cream

This is pretty straightforward. If you like coffee and want to keep it simple this is your go-to. Consider no syrup to lower your sugar intake.

Ice Starbucks Blonde Cold Foam Cappuccino

This is perfect for the coffee lover that wants something a little brighter and fancier than just the good old cup of black.

Black Coffee

This is a classic, and while you may not want to drink the caffeine, there isn’t much in the way of ingredients. Keep in mind these beans are not organic and may contain pesticide residue.

Black or Green Tea

The black or green teas without sweaters are a great option for hot or cold days. Just keep in mind these also aren’t organic.

Conclusion

I hope this is helpful when thinking about your next “healthy” Starbucks drink and makes you feel a little more secure when making your next Starbucks order. Your best bet is to avoid Starbucks altogether and opt for an organic tea you can make at home or take on the go.
